ML/TF/PF risk management remains the legal obligation of Accountable or Reporting Institutions in terms of the FIA. By availing this screening solution, the FIC does not assume responsibility for such obligations in full or in part. By considering, amongst others, the guidance availed above, such institutions should make the necessary evaluation of this sanctions screening tool in order to gain reasonable assurance on the effectiveness of its usage. This tool may be used if an institution has done the necessary risk assessment to gain reasonable assurance that the tool can effectively mitigate its risk exposure. If such assurance is not obtained, the institution should consider employing another client screening mechanism that will ensure effective risk mitigation and therefore FIA compliance.
